I would LOVE full book treatments of Predation and Gods of the Fall. (So expensive to get a physical book used!)

I didn’t feel like you were. I agree with most of what you and Rob are saying, just chiming in with how I tend to handle it. And like you I can read a game and see quite a bit of what’s going on, but I’ve been surprised enough in play to have a process for the when and why of house ruling for me.

I think running RAW, initially, is important to understanding a game. I hesitate to change a rule I haven’t played in the context of the game, even rules I’ve seen before that I may have had a bad experience with. I’m likely to skip a whole game rather than hack it before trying it.

The 4E version was so good, but my disdain for WotC at the time made it fall under my radar until it was near impossible to get a complete set. I’d love a reprint with those exact rules.

I do prefer what we see more often in the RPG and text book industries, but I’m too…particular?…to just throw away any part of a book.

I keep it and use the dust jacket flaps as a bookmark.
