Black people with Tourette’s should be heard loud and clear right now about the BAFTA incident.

And this BAFTA incident is a triple whammy of revealing the dismissal of racism and ableism as well as erasure of another group. It's shitty on so many levels, and the BBC enabled it all.

I applauded Will Smith (then and now) for standing against ableism. I understand I'm in the minority, though, and a whole lot of white people were complete assholes about the incident.

was at the BAFTA Awards (Im here rn actually). John Davidson had been involuntary ticking before the show started, and throughout. All guests were made aware before the show started and throughout why. I actually think the film “I swear” depicts and educates on this perfectly.

And the more I learn about what happened, the more upset I am with BAFTA/BBC for not censoring it. Everyone in attendance was FULLY aware.

I hate that they have our communities fighting. We should be uniting to call out the BBC for not censoring that.

The amount of ableism I'm seeing on the timeline makes me want to crawl into a hole. The asshole in this tourette's situation is the BAFTA and BBC for not cutting the slur from the broadcast (yet they cut someone saying "Free Palestine").

Telling disabled people how they should handle their own disability is such an asshole thing to do.
