Every now and then Fia or I open this stream, see like three names, then close it for the rest of the day. We've been doing this for three days now.

This game absolutely rules and every now and then it throws like 5 shirens worth of difficulty at you all at once and you just have to go "oh tight yeah I can probably punch all 5000000 of these enemies to death" before the second enemy paralyzes you and everyone lines up to kick the shit out of you

Update

We give them a pass. Their Touhou music is a force for pure good and cancels that out.

Videogames are so cool, man. I feel a little goofy constantly talking about how happy they always make me but man they always make me so happy. There's just constant great stuff coming out all the time.

The Labyrinth of Touhou one is cool too, because characters can only stick around for as long as they have TP, so if you want to get a long chain going, you need to familiarize yourself with stuff like healing your party as high as possible before a fight ends and rotate out members regularly

It adds a nice layer of tension for regular exploration, but then it's also a godsend if you ever actually choose to grind, because you can find a known safe spot and just keep a massive chain going. It's really cool!

My favorite is the Refrain/Galleria combat system, where you bank exp in fights to have it steadily get multiplied higher and higher until you cash out, with the constant threat that one bad fight/dungeon hazard could upend everything.

Encounter chaining systems in RPGs always ignite my soul. It's such a good way to liven up even the simplest combat systems.

I'd love to tell you that my favorite part in Öoo was when I got to tell Fia and Zoey that the name was the shape of the caterpillar you play as, but actually my favorite part was every subsequent second right up til the finish line.
