Transmas "Never Forget" This month, on December 28th will mark 10 years since transgender 17 year old Leelah Alcorn committed suicide due to mistreatment, isolation and abuse from her parents. Leelah was one of the many transgender lives lost too soon from transphobia. According to the Trevor Project, anti-trans laws have increased risk of suicide attempts in trans youth by 72%. The day after Election Day 2024 in the USA, Suicide Hotlines skyrocketed with trans individuals worried about their future and safety. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death for transgender people. More than 40% of trans folks suffer from suicide ideation. Abuse, dysphoria and transphobia are the leading causes of these struggles amongst the Trans Community. Countless people in the LGBTQIA community everyday face threats of violence just for existing. Many cannot exist in peace, living in constant fear. It shouldn't be like this. This month of December, let us remember and honor those in the LGBTQIA community whom tragically lost their lives trying to be themselves. This holiday, help take a stand and support the trans and LGBTQIA folks who are struggling and trying to survive. Become an ally and help protect those who are fighting for their rights and very lives. Donate to charities to help protect trans and LGBTQIA rights. To help protect lives. Nobody should have to live in fear nor feel like their lives are not worth living just because of their identity or sexuality. - Skyler
