Have a plan for problematic members. I speak from experience! It was also helpful having writers say what type of feedback they were looking for (like developmental vs line edits)

I think that we were a diverse group of writers that wrote in different genres helped a lot for fresh perspectives. Like, it's good to get beta readers in your genre, but the critique group having different outlooks really stretched the writing.

I'm no Christian, but read the Bible. Jesus was an upsetter of the status quo and a defender of the marginalized.

Also, Jesus would be disgusted that a sexual abuser is in the highest office in the land, so quit using him as an excuse for loving the bad people like nothing is wrong.

For the millionth fucking time, it's not a difference in politics. It's a difference in MORALITY. If you're okay with someone being okay with an attack on human rights, your morality is in question, too.

So I feel like this shouldn't be a hot take, but after several different convos the last few days, let it be known that I want the multicultural books I read to expose me to different cultures. Don't whitewash your writing. Show me foreign words. Make me have to Google stuff. I crave it. 🦋📚
