Looking for a big, 'orrible, Lovecraftian floating monstrosity mini. Any suggestions?

Bit of a pause with the Drowned Labyrinth atm. Full-on at work and home. But hoping to draw the first level soon!

I‘ve always liked gricks since I saw the art in my first D&D adventure “Lost Mines Of Phandelver.” However, I always imagined them larger than the rules described. The basic grick is only Medium size. Personally, I’d make them all Large with the grick alpha being Huge.

There were a wealth of monsters introduced in 3rd ed. Dire animals make the top of my list for not being 'weird' or 'aberrant' or demonic and could fit in many a sword and sorcery setting.

▶ Damage resistance: Damage from non-magical weapons is halved (round down). Magical weapons inflict normal damage.

▶ Ambush predator: A grick usually surprises on a 1–4 on 1d6 when clinging to ceilings or walls.

▶ Tentacles: If the tentacle attack hits, the grick may make a bite attack against the same target in the same round.

Today I learned that gricks did not exist in #dnd before 3rd edition. Huh. I always assumed they were classic dungeon monsters like rust monsters and grells. Guess not!

Not American, and try not to get into world events too much, but the shit going on in the States is horrifying, frightening, sickening. Fuck Trump, fuck MAGA, fuck ICE, and fuck every single person who enables them. History will judge you.

Part 5 of my new campaign series is up! I’ve started work on the Drowned Labyrinth: factions, hazards, treasure, encounter ratios, and the intended rhythm of play. Very OSE, very focused on exploration, with a big nod to #Piranesi.

I'm seeing more and more Instagram captions written by Chat GPT, and they all sound like Patrick Bateman.

I've used em dashes for YEARS. It infuriates me that if I use them in my writing people assume it's AI. Should I give up and ditch them? Or switch to spaced en dashes, perhaps?

Very helpful, thank you! For a published sandbox, would you expect a bit more in terms of stocking? Or would a bit of procedural generation be OK to you? (I'm currently doing 36 hexes around the home base, and I figure those should be stocked more completely.)
