The new curriculum for England is not due to be released until 2028 meaning at least another 3-5 years befor this gap narrows. This requires #UrgentImprovement not only for the green transition but also for the economic security and wellbeing of young people.

In the UK this gap is hindering the pace of the green transition. Young people are ideal for these positions given adequate knowledge & skills.
However, many aren't aware of green careers, as identified in the 2025 Royal Meteorological Society report on school leavers.

DfE might need to do another review as the geography curriculum will be moving to the history curriculum in the near future 🤷🏽‍♀️

I'm going to have to use all my willpower not to say "I did try to tell you".

Given it takes decades to change the national curriculum we can expect to see "AMOC collapse" mentioned in c.2060 & "Subpolar Gyre" arrive sometime after that. Children, even parents, are already seeing the impacts of climate breakdown and are totally unprepared for how rapidly things will unravel.

Putting profit over people or planet should be illegal. It's not. So, I've now started doing workshops with young people on "Who's got the Power?". Individual action is required, but widespread collective action is essential for systems to change. Together we're stronger & there's much work to do 💪🏽

Just heard the haunting cries of a Tawny Owl. They're rare with an amber conservation status according to @rspb.bsky.social. Feeling incredibly blessed to live somewhere where nature is still surviving... we have so much work to do to make sure it returns to thriving.
