12.11.2025 17:05 β π 39 π 9 π¬ 1 π 1Many are calling for Chuck Schumer's resignation. What hasn't been reported until now is that any Senate Democrat can offer a motion to challenge his leadership position, and it would have to get a vote within 7 days. From @whitneycwimbish.bsky.social:
prospect.org/2025/11/11/o...
More than anything else, this is what led some Senate Democrats to cut a deal: Trumpβs willingness to hurt people exceeds their willingness to see people get hurt. I want to give them their due on this: They are hearing from their constituents and seeing the mounting problems, and they are trying to do what they see as the responsible, moral thing. They do not believe that holding out will lead to Trump restoring the subsidies. They fear that their Republican colleagues would, under mounting pressure, do as Trump had demanded and abolish the filibuster. (Whether that would be a good or a bad thing is a subject for another column.) This, in the end, is the calculation the defecting Senate Democrats are making: They donβt think a longer shutdown will cause Trump to cave. They just think it will cause more damage. If I were in the Senate, I wouldnβt vote for this compromise. Shutdowns are an opportunity to make an argument, and the country was just starting to pay attention. If Trump wanted to cancel flights over Thanksgiving rather than keep health care costs down, I donβt see why Democrats should save him from making his priorities so exquisitely clear. And I worry that Democrats have just taught Trump that they will fold under pressure. Thatβs the kind of lesson he remembers.
like this is basically it, the melts melted under pressure

This happened because you let it happen or because youβve totally lost control of the caucus in one of the most important moments since youβve been Democratic leader. Either way, itβs on you. You need to step down. We need someone who can lead.

Itβs worse than you think. This is his lawyer Rita Glavin who has been paid tens of millions of dollars to smear me and the other women who came forward. She has led his taxpayer funded litigation abuse of us all.
And here she is at the loser party with him.
I thank the driver as I swipe and get on, especially late at night. It makes riding the bus feel more human.

Mamdani has now gotten more votes than 1/4 of the members of the United States Senate did when they got elected. The political power being channeled here is immense.
