It's now possible to merge brushes in the engine into a single object, export it and then import it into other rooms.

You can technically child the brushes to a parent node and export that but it felt a little messy rather than just doing it as one object.

Probably got changed in an update somewhere along the way. Not sure if there's a setting for it now, but if not... classic case of “fixing” something that wasn’t broken.
