An incredible love letter to the place I’ve worked at for almost 20 years, and a very perceptive portrait of a city that is as beautiful as it is complex. Worth your time.

I sewed this cool quilted bag! It turned out great and it’s going to make for a good gift for a special person. And best of all, it was all done with scrap fabric!

What is the fabric is you don’t mind me asking? It looks light and cool but not stretchy, which would make it easy to sew for me… ☺️
Also I think your doggo should be in all your photo shoots πŸ˜„

First attempt at a small quilting project to make the Orbit bag from @helenscloset.bsky.social. I like it! It reminds me of making origami in a good way.

I love it, yes! I myself am just starting a small quilting project and am making heavy use of the walking foot for that! May your t-shirt forever fit perfectly henceforth

If you wanted to you could use the twin needle setup for the whole shirt, but I prefer the look of the β€œregular” stretch stitch for the other seams, and just use the twin needle for topstitching the hems and collar. It’s worth having the needle and it comes in handy for hemming pants too!

For the hems and collar I switched to a stretch twin needle set up (like in the photo). This works *great* for knits, and the stitch is stretchy so it will tolerate my head going through the collar. I actually had to adjust the tension up a bit with this setup.

For the regular seams I used a stretch needle and a stretch stitch β€” it looks like number 4 in this photo on my machine

I don’t mind sharing at all! Until this shirt I struggled mightily sewing knits too, and found it very frustrating. Things that helped with this one: I got good Gutermann thread; I used a walking presser foot; I lowered the tension slightly to about 3 (from 4)

A me-made t-shirt I just finished in my favorite color. It fits! It’s got a collar! It’s hemmed nicely! And I didn’t have to fight the sewing machine and fabric because I finally nailed the alchemy between walking foot, stretch needles, and tension. 😌

Thank you! I was a bit confused at first because the other shirt I own with angled French cuffs has them cut the other way, with the cut off corner at the top, but these came this way… next time I think I’ll invert them

They’re called French cuffs in English… but maybe it’s like French fries and it doesn’t actually have anything to do with France? πŸ€ͺ

Interesting! Yes, definitely check out the site, the options for customization are plentiful and everything on it is completely free. This is my third shirt, and I’ve tweaked things slightly each time but the basic fit was right from the start

This is the Simon shirt from @freesewing.org. It’s cool, you put in your measurements and it creates a pattern customized for you. You can choose a lot of details about it, from the amount of ease around various parts to the style of cuffs, plackets, collar, etc. Highly recommended!

So, like… how many shirts is too many shirts to make? 🫣
I love the fit of this one, and am excited that I get to make my own French cuffed formal shirts now!

Time to move on to pants… and get frustrated in a whole new way!
