“I won’t feed you too much tonight, but I’ll take you to the vet tomorrow morning to get you checked.” Jin eyed the feline, noticing two obvious bumps on its backside. “Ah, we need to fix that, big boy.”

The cat kept staring at him, and Jin rolled his eyes before drying it off with a large white towel. Once he deemed the cat dry enough, he prepared its dinner and his own.

“Stop looking at me like my best friend does when he’s doubting me. That’s rude, especially since I just saved you from the streets.”

“Eh, Yoongi must be resting. He’s been sick for days, but don’t worry, I have a few good things here.” Jin grinned at the cat, which was staring at him with wide eyes from its spot on the rug.

“Here we are!” Jin carefully put the cat down on the rug by his front door as they entered the apartment. “I’ll get you some towels to dry you off, then you can eat some tuna and have some warm milk. Sorry, I have no idea how to care for cats, but I’ll ask my best friend Yoongi later.”

Jin cooed at the ginger cat's innocent round eyes before practically running off toward his apartment building. He mentally thanked his landlord for allowing pets in the building, as long as the owners were responsible. Jin promised himself he’d be responsible for this fluffy little one.

“Yup,” he said, scooping the cat into his arms and trying to shield it from the rain. “You’re kind of fluffy and heavy for a stray cat. Are you lost, or did some stupid human abandon you here?”

“Meow.”

Jin's face lit up when he noticed a furry ginger cat shakily approaching him.

“Hey, come here,” Jin smiled and offered his large hand to the shivering cat. “You must be scared and hungry. I have enough canned tuna and blankets at home.”

“Meow.”

It might not be the best idea for Jin to bring home a stray since he has little experience with animals and no supplies for cats, but he couldn't leave a lost, scared, and likely hungry feline out in the rain.

"Meow."

“Meow.”

“Where are you? Why are you out here in this weather?” Jin spun around, trying to locate the source of the sound in the dark alleyway. “Kitty? Come out, I won't hurt you.”

“Ah, I'll just call him once I get home,” Jin promised himself as the alleyway's exit came into view.

“Meow.”

Jin's steps faltered at the exit upon hearing the distinct sound of a cat, or perhaps a kitten. He wasn't sure where it was coming from.

He murmured curses under his breath, having failed to visit Min Yoongi as he promised that morning. His sick best friend has been resting in bed for days, but Yoongi claimed to be feeling much better, saying the fever had already subsided.

Tiredness echoes in Kim Seokjin's every step toward the alleyway that leads him back to his apartment. It's a rainy day, and the coffee shop where he works as a pastry baker-slash-chef is still full of regular and new customers seeking shelter and warmth. Now, Jin just wants to go home.
