I agree that there’s no need to critique an individual’s appearance. But it’s the GROUP’s shift toward a very specific appearance that’s…interesting. I hoped this article would delve into the psychology of that, but obviously didn’t.

I keep scissors, seam rippers, tape measure, and an awl in the inner pockets. Pins, needles, thread/bobbins, ruler/rotary cutter go in the outer pockets.

Or neglecting the fact that an entire garment is worn underneath the corset or stays.

Stays cannot be ripped/torn off the person wearing them. And once removed, there is no immediate access to the flesh beneath.
