There are lot of better ways to spend this money to help kids and improve our education system instead of vouchers. Voucher programs have no oversight and bad outcomes.

I generally try to do the same, but it's getting harder when you start stacking all of the bills up over the last few years, and look at the trajectory of states that are seemingly ahead of us on this.

Not disagreeing with your overall point, just adding that part of why politicians seem disingenuous is because they keep talking about "administrative bloat" but the cuts they are requiring are strictly from the "instructional" budget. Administrative costs are untouched. Doesn't add up.
