On this day in 1934, Didier Pitre died.
Born in Valleyfield, Quebec in 1883, he played professional hockey, primarily in Montreal, from 1908 to 1928. He won a Stanley Cup with the Montreal Canadiens in 1916. In 1963, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The Canadiens have agreed to terms on a two-year, one-way contract (2025-26 to 2026-27) with defenseman Jayden Struble. The deal will pay him an average annual salary of $1.4125 million.
