It's been one year since the funeral for Howard Andrew Jones.

What a grievous loss it still is... you will never be forgotten my friend.

I can't believe Howard Andrew Jones has been gone a year now.

I still weep for the loss.

Clark Ashton Smith was born on this day 133 years ago. Beloved for his Zothique stories and Hyperborean cycle, Smith wedded the styles of fellow WEIRD TALES alumni Howard and Lovecraft into something completely his own.

It's always nice to see the sword-and-sorcery community come together and enjoy the new season of Primal.

Honestly? There is so much baffling behind the scenes stuff with reprints and subrights that makes the head spin.

I did my part when working there - I could (and hope to!) work in SFF publishing another 50 years - to bring in Howard Andrew Jones and his Hanuvar series. Had he not died of cancer...

The sad thing is, what's keeping reprints from happening is a moviedeal.

Apparently so long as they renew the movie rights, no reprints.

Good for his estate, but man I'd love to replace those aging Bolo paperbacks.

If we are being honest, its a world building issue... the franchise itself waffled heavily on just what the Immortals are, their powers, origins, all that stuff.

Its one reason I'm hoping the reboot is great - a clean slate here is overdue.

Technically we'd be calling them Egyptians.

I lament I can't call him now to talk with him about them.

Reading the Amber books by Roger Zelazny for the first time in at least a decade.

Gods these are good.

As in most things, Howard Andrew Jones was right.

When I got hired at Baen, they shared the horror story of everything that went wrong with 1945.
Saw a picture of Jim Baen testifying before Congress because it got wrapped in Gingrich's scandals.
