i cannot emphasis enough that stable audio is harmful. i got a complaint about music being too loud in this video, and i don't know if i fucked up, or if that person didn't know they had it on or that it raises the music's volume by eight decibels!!! turn it off, whether you make or watch videos.

i know some youtubers follow me, so all of you should be aware that you can disable youtube's ai upscaling and automatic audio balancing features in your channel settings!!

whatever the issue, it's a shame that adoption is so limited, because hdr is really cool!! definitely cooler than 4k, which arguably hasn't even lasted very long in the video game space.

i don't think there's been a big, big push for hdr on screens like we saw for 4k, perhaps because 4k overshadowed hdr, or maybe because better colours demand purpose-made content to justify itself, whereas rescanning films in 4k and rendering more pixels in a game are much simpler problems to solve.

the only area i know of where hdr seems to be the norm is portable devices, specifically most flagship phones (because many engineers seem to see them as compact digital cameras with calling functions attached, and that's awesome) and the recent nintendo switch 2.

microsoft tries to make you not feel like a sucker for buying an hdr display by applying their auto hdr stuff to games that don't properly support it, but it's not particularly smart; it seems to enjoy making the snow in frostpunk so blindingly bright that i can't read the ui.

it amazes me that hdr is still considered a "nice to have" thing for hardware and supporting software, rather than becoming an expectation and eventual standard. what do you mean this has been in hdmi and games consoles since 2015, and barely any games released today properly support it???

it's a really fun administrative and economic challenge to over double your population by taking random provinces from china and incorporating them immediately. then you have to figure out what to do with the region before they're all entitled to welfare and start voting.

the most tempting option is to buy the specialist edition and hope i get a code to play the game early, but i've never had any direct contact with ioi, and the indirect contact has always been spotty -- i still don't even have a code for the new dlc!

what am i even supposed to buy here? it'll irk me forever if i miss the specialist suit, but getting it on the real release date is important to me as a youtuber. there's a very small chance of me getting the legacy edition, but even if i did, i'd have to miss out on the early access *and* the tux!!
