We run our School on the River education programme at Teddington Lock, a complex of three locks and a weir and has the largest Lock on the Thames. It marks the point where the sea meets the fresh water, the first non-tidal lock of the river. You’ll spot us on the Ham side of the river.

Both our boats are moored at Canbury Gardens in Kingston. From here, our Skipper runs training sessions and maintenance days with our volunteer crew. We cruise from here to Teddington Lock, where we moor for our School on the River education programme.

What do you enjoy most about working here? "I'm also a volunteer teacher and love sharing the excitement of school groups that visit us for our amazing School on the River days! I have made many friends among the volunteers and enjoy helping children to learn about our previous river environment." What's your favourite bit of Thames Trivia? "The stretch of the river from Hampton Court to Chiswick is so beautiful that for over 300 years it has been called The Arcadian Thames."

When River Thames Boat Project was founded in 1988, we operated with one boat, our beloved Dutch barge, Thames Venturer; whose silhouette you can see in our logo. Fully wheelchair accessible, Thames Venturer hosts our School on the River and Eco Venturers education programmes.
