Hmmm, yeah I can kinda see it. Mostly because if you have endgame crafting and supplies, a lot of the new mechanics/anomalies/etc are something you can kinda shrug off.

The DLC unlocks pretty fast, though! You might have to play an hour of a new game to reach it

Nah, I think you're right. WB had a whole bunch of movies with successful theatrical runs this year, many of them with modest budgets too. It's just such a bummer to think it might all go away.
