A few thoughts about today's protests:

1) The April 5 Hands Off day of action clearly ranks as one of the very largest mobilizations in U.S. history, by two different measures:
-- total national turnout (~ 3 million)
-- number of local protests (~ 1400)

Columbia better come to its senses soon or risk becoming the Tesla of universities.

The "free speechers" are now afraid of free speech.

Politico writers admitting in writing that they did not who FDR was or what he did before writing about the most consequential early days of US presidencies, then saying readers gave them a heads up after which they then checked Wikipedia and found out all kinds of things about FDR.

If I had someone under me who wrote an article about the greatest baseball teams of all time, completely omitted mention of, say, the 1939 or 1927 Yankees, and then later said "oops, my bad, I checked Wikipedia and they were good! Who knew?" they would be fired within ten minutes.

US Government Websites Are Disappearing in Real Time A growing number of US government websites have gone offline as of Saturday, including several related to USAID and others focused on youth programs, Africa, and more.

NEW: USAID source says staff are scrambling to save archived copies of US regulations before they're gone & are being actively locked out of systems, including a publicly available database of USAID documents.

WIRED has built software to systematically check the status of 1,374 government domains.

When the Patriot Act was passed, libraries got requests for patrons’ borrowing history. We were prohibited from disclosing those requests.
