The quoted text claims jews in Iran have more rights than "deported" Jews in Israel do, expect for westerners. I assume by Westerners they mean Ashkenazi. However, there is no difference in rights between Ashkenazi and Sepharadic (middle eastern) Jews in present day Israel.

The Iranian diaspora - at least the same parts of it currently yearning for the return of the Shah - has been a strong supporter of Israel these past couple of years. My son tells me the Pro Palestinians are protesting this war with the Iranian students facing them off in tense counter protests.

At uni I, am Ashkenazi, had a Sudanese friend. We had the exact same skin colour.

In Israel there's this whole swoth of secular people who can't stop talking about how much they think religious people are wonderful and great and better than everyone else, and it's like, dude, you could easily be one of them, if you want.

Not everything on that list is actually a live action remake - Maleficient and Cruella are hardly remakes, I would say, but retellings; and not every Alice in Wonderland is a completely different adaptation of the book, not a remake of the animated movie. Mufasa is an original sequel, too.

I never give star reviews on classic books I read. I feel like, if I liked it, it would just feel just pompous and self congratulatory, and if I didn't, I would feel it says more about me that I failed to enjoy the classic. So I just don't say anything.

The term "grassroot brand" really grates on me.

In other words, with the internet, most of the time you don't NEED a mass movement to have a lot of people share your cause. It encourages social fracturing.
