The #MyVoiceMyChoice proposal was concrete, creative, ambitious, in line with EU law, and in support of sexual and reproductive health rights, a priority under the EC Roadmap for Women’s Rights.
We count on the Gender Equality Strategy to include strong action on SRHR.

It is groundbreaking that the Commission will actively support member states to use EU funds for access to abortion care! It is now up to member states to make abortion access as wide as possible, while ensuring all others in need of ESF+ funds are not negatively impacted.

The Commission’s response, however, does not bring new resources. Instead of bringing direct EU financial support to this important matter of health and human rights it takes away resources from other marginalized groups where they are also urgently needed.

The strong & urgent call from more than a million EU citizens, civil society organisations, the @europarl.europa.eu and many other experts was partially answered.

👉Angola must conduct timely, effective investigations into evidence on use of commercial spyware and digital threats against the country's civil society and media.
👉The EU must tighten export controls and increase transparency, oversight & accountability of the spyware trade.

Spyware is not a neutral tool. When deployed against journalists & activists it becomes an instrument of repression, incompatible with human rights.

Unchecked sale & use of surveillance technologies, linked to EU-based companies, risks facilitating human rights abuses worldwide.

At a time when major powers become increasingly emboldened to flout international law and further erode the multilateral rules-based order, the EU’s commitment to defending justice, accountability and human rights must not falter.

It is paramount that the people of Ukraine receive truth, justice & reparations for the devastating impact this war has inflicted over the past 12 years.

Pressure on Ukraine to compromise on justice for war-related crimes or accept Russia’s territorial & other demands in ongoing negotiations is as morally repugnant as it is unlawful.

Impunity must be challenged, not entrenched in peace proposals.

Russian forces continue to torture PoWs, terrorize & deport civilians in the territories they occupy, subject teachers to forcible labour, and indoctrinate children & deny them their identity.

All while Moscow demands control over more Ukrainian territory in 'peace negotiations'.

The people of Ukraine have now endured another year of full-scale aggression.
They face daily indiscriminate attacks.
Critical infrastructure indispensable for survival has been relentlessly destroyed.

This new proposal may intensify the chilling effect on NGOs doing essential work and documenting violations at the border. Human rights work must be protected &enabled. Greece should withdraw provisions that make NGO membership an aggravating factor and allowing for their removal from the Register.
