More people need to play spirit swap, it’s so cozy and pretty and heartwarming and fun and just so easy to recommend to literally anybody, it’s become one of my all time favorite video games and I hope it can bring as much joy to others as it did me

Made homemade hot choccy for the first time, added a slight Filipino twist by using some ube extract, and even though I expected it to be decent I was unprepared for just how well ube plays with chocolate and cinnamon, it’s one of the most unique and tasty hot choccys I’ve had

You should go and experiment, play different games, get weird with it. And most importantly, try to find out what it is you do and do not like about the games you play, and why. Then share those genuine experiences with others. You will likely find yourself enjoying video games so so so much more

And this all isn’t to say “popular games bad, niche games good, I’m far smarter than everyone” because that’s so clearly not the case (although ofc people will still misinterpret), this is to say that what matters is how a piece of media made you feel, how you enjoyed it, not what everyone else says

And as for sales, I don’t think it needs explaining how profitable slop content is across several mediums compared to more thoughtful, artistic creations. I cannot count how many amazing games have bombed while predatory or unfinished games made by awful people have made millions.

Critical reviews have always had a history of showing biases, and publishers can easily pay to artificially boost scores. As for awards, e33 fans need to chill because we’ve had Madden NFL 2004 win goty, had Elden Ring nominated for best narrative and its *DLC* nominated for goty. It means nothing

Feels like the death of media literacy within the gaming industry is multifaceted has been worsening for a while now, but I think a good starting off point for many people to improve theirs is understanding that critical reviews, sales, and especially game awards NEVER automatically signify quality

After many months, I have gotten this list up to a clean 100 games! With the AAA space’s best efforts to run itself into the ground and endless slop being pushed, I think now more than ever these games deserve more attention, and the smaller dev teams need more support :)

I spend over 1200 hours in BG3, discover DOS 2 to be one of the best games I’ve ever played, sing your praises for more than 2 years, get so excited for Divinity, all for you to bring me back down to earth and remember that the concept of “one of the good ones” is so rarely if ever true. I can’t recommend Divinity Original Sin 2 enough, it has modern enough presentation and qol features (especially with a few key mods for the latter) and absolutely champions CRPG’s inclination towards player freedom. customization, and nonlinear progression. Most fun RPG gameplay I’ve ever witnessed

I love the bloody crow’s design so much but GODS was he so damn painful to fight when I was still learning the game, those viscerals’ damage still haunt me :’)

There’s more I’d love to say about the trilogy but I think most people should get to experience it for themselves. It’s also on modern consoles, GOG, and itch for very cheap even when not on sale. Do yourselves a favor and try it, please
