Yes - exactly that!

Basically the idea is: you can add food to the feeder block (the one with the pumpkin), which feeds nearby mobs. In exchange, they *may* give you a resource (what you get depends on the mob). The better than enclosure is, the faster they'll give you stuff.

Here's a proof of concept for a mod idea I came up with earlier today to add a purpose to some of minecraft's animals. (Explanation in comments)

It's more like I'm back in my 2 week mod phase - which is arguably way worse for my productivity lol

These little probes will be how you get certain resources, the most important of which is creature DNA, which lets you create your own creatures for your zoo!
