You are looking at the only surviving publicly accessible copy of the original first edition (1848) of the biography of Daniel Oโ€™Connell written by Josรฉphine-Marie de Gaulle (Charles de Gaulleโ€™s grand-mother) and it is kept in the National Library of Ireland in Dublin! 1/2

The author took considerable pride in her family's Irish ancestry, as did her grandson, General de Gaulle, leader of the French Resistance & later President of the Republic & co-founder of the European project.
