It’s unbelievable, their actions showed that our children don’t count as human beings to them. They barely looked at the letters, handed them back, and showed zero concern. Nothing about that meeting showed even a trace of care.

They said they'd provide us with meeting notes for these meetings. We're still waiting. Good job I wrote my own.

The treatment of these children has been utterly abhorrent. Everyone involved has been made fully aware of how dire the situation is; including at the 13 November meeting. Yet parents’ distress was met with no response. A helpline is not a solution to the harm being done.

A distressed sixteen year old sends an impassioned letter explaining how fear of the withdrawal of her gender affirming care has left her suicidal.

But it’s ok, NHS Sussex ICB are on it with a dedicated helpline. That should fix things. The evidence for the efficacy of helplines is legendary.

The worst part of your meeting for me was where Judith Ellis, the one in charge of the MDT reviewing our children's records and deciding what his ongoing treatment looks like, without meeting him, announced that she has no experience.

I physically handed them letters from Brighton families, they glanced at them and handed them back. I had to remind them to take them when leaving, they most likely were never read. They were not interested in the slightest. 🤬

A few weeks ago in a meeting with Cass she said NOONE under 16 would get access to hormones, NOONE, she was asked if there was any room on that and she said NO, it's VERY clear if your child is already on hormones they will be removed!

Children are already in crisis. Refusing to answer this question is the harm.

Parent: “If my child dies, who takes responsibility?”
ICB response: “We cannot discuss individual cases.”

Amy Ghalia (ICB): “This session is intended to be a safe space.”
Parent: “My child has stopped eating because of this investigation.”
The panel moved on without addressing it.

NHS Sussex ICB Meeting 13/11/2025 - The “safe space” that wasn’t.

NHS Sussex ICB called the meeting a “safe space.” In minites, parents are crying about children starving themselves from fear. When asked who is responsible if a child dies, the panel refused to answer. That isn’t safety, it’s harm.

Thank you. I know the stories she is hearing, and it is utterly heartbreaking. It's good that she has you to support her because it breaks you. No one really understands the sheer horror of what we are experiencing. Well, until Sophie started reporting.

Exactly that. They are monsters. Trying to keep up with the ever changing stories is exhausting. I have gone back to the start, reading all the notes, etc, and it's shocking how many changes to the narrative there is.

We are all incredibly grateful for your unwavering support, it has lit the way on some very dark nights.

These children are being denied basic healthcare rights, and we won’t stop fighting for their safety and dignity.

Thank you for speaking plainly about what Cass said: no access to hormones under 16, no exceptions, and removal even if already on them. Your honesty matters because families keep getting unclear answers,especially when Sussex ICB still won’t give a straight response.

They refuse to say “your child will get their care back,” because they know it’s not going to happen.

I was in that meeting too. Even when parents asked direct questions, the ICB flipped and contradicted themselves while we cried. They hinted GIDS would prescribe but never actually said it. We all know it’s not true. They just want our kids pushed into their “service."

This report deserves attention. Our families are terrified. Kids are being pushed back into danger. This isn’t “caution.” It’s harm.

If the ICB cared about trans kids at all, they wouldn’t be stripping life-saving care away. They act like these children’s lives don’t matter. It’s cruelty, not healthcare.

A reminder: there is no such thing as “too many” kids being trans. We should nurture young trans people with the social, medical, and legal resources to flourish.

It’s simple.

A kid fidgets in class, can’t sit still… The NHS will have them doped up on ADHD medicine to keep them quiet.

The kid is trans, sorry no medication for you.
