A top-down photo of sand patterns that look like four trees, with two circles, like flower buds, perhaps. Orange, yellow and grey.

Strange, bobbly sand trees, because who does not like strange, bobbly sand trees?

Una roca en el centro entre el mar y el cielo. Se erige como un centinela que destaca mucho sobre el fondo, lo que le da fuerza a la imagen. Y la fotografΓa en blanco y negro le da un toque dramΓ‘tico y misterioso.

(Sorry, if youβve seen this before, but Iβve never shared it here.)
Two vertical photos. On the left, a towering storm wave in sea-green called βSednaβ (2017) and on the right a snow-corniced peak in Antarctica called βHere be Dragonsβ (2024).
Iβve shared the photo on the right before but wanted to risk boring you by popping it up again because it amuses me the way it mirrors the shape of one of my favourite waves, Sedna. I enjoy finding echoes like this.

These remnants of Brightonβs West Pier looked splendid in the fading winter light. The detailed colour and patina probably lost on a small screen. Tap and zoom for best effect!

I find it so interesting, the notion of 'there's nothing to shoot'. The idea that 'classic' conditions a location is known for are not present. In my experience, there's always something to shoot and the lack of classic conditions may cause you to search out and find unexpected beauty.
