It gave me some pretty useful insights with a nice conclusion!

So expect to hear some horror stories coming out in the next year or two blaming Labor even though no laws have changed.
The Liberals could have introduced explicit laws, but I suspect they didn't so Labor would be to blame.
There are still plenty of dubious family trust schemes, many of which aren't *explicitly* legal however there are plenty of catch all anti avoidance laws which people could be caught under.
But there's been little action on cracking down, making people "think" it's legal.
That's the full cost which is usually fully or partly covered
26.04.2025 13:30 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not that much though. In Australia we have a better idea of the costs of things as sometimes we have to pay (or just a part payment), but something like a CT scan is usually no more than $500-1000

Yes, I flew Brisbane to Tokyo to LA once because it was the cheapest fare.
Is it now a crime to not travel in a straight line???
And they will insult the hell out of them, rather than encouraging them to vote Labor!

They're worse than bots because I believe they are genuinely real people!
Theyβre beginning to make me understand why people vote LNP, not that I would..
Yeah, I've just opted for a hard block on those types of people now - they're not interested in debating, what's best for Australia or anything really, so not worth the time of day.

Problem is the Murdoch media.
Also why a minority Labor government is preferable
Yes, it's like there's agreement never to bring them up in political discussions

05.04.2025 07:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Family trusts are something that literally no political party (major or minor), independent, or journalists bring up. That's what needs to be addressed. I suspect they're afraid if they brought attention to it, people would literally each the rich.

Fix capital gains by removing the discount and basing it on inflation.
Wealth isn't real until it's realised.
So you're suggesting preferencing the LNP ahead of the ALP?

They're not gains or losses if they are unrealised.
You'd end up with a lot of bankrupt every day Australians if that were the case
On the Gold Coast there is literally just 1 new build apartment for sale under $750k, and almost none under $1m
05.04.2025 06:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Well a wealth tax would be better then a tax on unrealised gains, as that would also mean a tax credit on unrealised losses

05.04.2025 06:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Unrealised gains can be a tricky one, but instead perhaps there needs to be a tax if they're used as collateral for loans
