When Aftermath launched I thought perfect, a site dedicated to my specific interests. And that has somehow just become more so overtime.

Writers today don't have role models or teams to fall back on, they have clients, and think that is the perfect petri dish for good writers to burn out, and bad actors to take their place.

I think this story speaks to another issue - as newsrooms have vanished freelancers are leaned on more and more to carry the load bearing weight for the industry. But it is something writers need to do without the mentorship and guidance enjoyed by past generations of writers.
