i had seen a tiktok prompting "writing advice hot takes" from ppl and that comment had stuck with me because it's more nuanced than just "only write linearly" and i had thoughts on it

or if you're like me and have memory issues/disorder, if i don't write it the second i think of it, it's gone😭 nowhere to be found. so yeah it's not a strict "rule" at all, but being able to sit with creative frustration is vital. it's a skill, it can be learned and tolerated

overall and on principle i think you should always try to challenge yourself with those tougher parts. it's part of discipline and ethic as a creative. but sometimes it just doesn't work out and you need to chip at other stuff until you're able to tackle what's causing you issues

one piece of writing advice i halfway agree with is you can't just write the plot points you want to immediately write, to grow as a writer you need to push through the "boring" parts
