Japanese actor and singer Miho Nakayama, known for starring in popular TV shows like “Mama wa Idol!” (1987) and and for her early career work as an idol in the 1980s, was found dead at her residence in Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward on Friday. She was 54.

Japanese sake brewing added to UNESCO intangible heritage list Traditional sake brewing marks the 23rd Japanese entry on the Intangible Cultural Heritage list, joining other culturally significant arts such as washoku and kabuki.

The traditional knowledge and techniques of making Japanese sake with kōji mold has been added as the newest addition to UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list, for its high level of technique as well as its sociocultural relevance in Japan.
