Just finished watching Devin Townsend performing another of his live stream concerts. This time, a tongue-in-cheek Xmas themed show. It was so much fun! Covers of Elvis, Wham. A fantastic palette cleanser as we all eagerly await the imminent release his next album, 10+ years in the making: The Moth.

Literally just finished listening to his live Xmas concert stream on patreon. So much fun!

Just finished Flintlock: Siege of Dawn. Lots of potential, some good fun to be had. I would rate it 7.5/10 (marks lost for cringe voice acting, derivative story, bad audio). I further deduct half point for utter garbage final boss. Janky AF. Overall a mid game score of 7/10. A missed opportunity.

Combat is a real letdown. Fantastic story, visuals, voice acting. Real emotional depth. But Combat is so bad, (and the devs must’ve realised this) it can by turned off completely. Prevents game being a 9/10 for me, and only an 8/10.

Some of my recent XBox achievements awarded in Hollow Knight Silksong, most notably "Competion - Achieve 100% completion and finish the game"

Silksong. Peak gaming. Feeling relieved and a bit sad that I've just finished it. More a sense of calm than the exhilaration I expected. A tough slog at times. (TBF, I do have the calcified reactions of a 53 year old man).

On to either Ghost of Yotei or Hades 2.

Gaming sequels in 2025: working thru Silksong as best I can, patiently waiting for 1.0 of Hades 2 (toe dipped in, then out). Temporarily parked Alan Wake 2 because Silksong. Anxiety of getting through all this before Ghost of Yotei in a few weeks. 1st world video game problems 2025, gah!

Really enjoying Silksong, but feeling really guilty playing on free PC gamepass sub. Will deffo purchase physical release if/when available

Also, If ur Xbox has a disc drive, there are some great Xbox one exclusives that are not on gamepass or Microsoft App Store, eg Ryse: Son of Rome that u can buy physical copy for pennies

It’s been a few years for me, so please forgive my poor memory if I have the details wrong. These boss fights are about observing the patterns and being super patient. As an experiment, I suggest going to boss areas and just survive as long as possible without attacking or panicking. It will click.

It’s hard, to be sure! Persistence is key. Have fun exploring: theres always a route you can take, even though most paths are inaccessible early on. Farm $$$ until you can afford to buy the map and compass.

If you can beat 1st boss (False knight), then you are mentally set for the rest of game.

Just finished my time with Black Myth Wukong on PS5. A fun game!

Whether it is a souls-lite or ARPG is moot, IMO. A mix of both. Good QoL features, but a lack of risk/reward jeopardy.

Got stuck on Yellow Ridge RT, Erlang and final boss, but I persevered!

9/10 rating

Just finished Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. So many mixed emotions after 300+ hours. An utterly mesmerising and compelling experience for the most part.

The DLC non-ending though: after spending the last 3 days being ganked on by Consort Radahn, it ends like that?!? So terribly vexed...
