Vance Honeycutt actually isn't due up this inning. Orioles' batting order has changed around with all of the defensive replacements. So the streak will have to wait a bit longer today.

Zach Eflin on his velo: "I think it's probably all mechanics. I was kind of surprised at how it was coming out. But that's what I used to expect. Genuinely, how I feel right now is how I used to feel when I was throwing a little harder. I'm hoping that continues to keep climbing up."

An encouraging first showing for the 31-year-old, who is coming off of back surgery.

A strong start to Orioles RHP Zach Eflin's first game action since undergoing back surgery last August.

A 1-2-3 first inning vs. the Rays. Struck out Theo Gillen swinging and induced a pair of groundouts. 14 pitches, 8 strikes.

Velo is up on everything from his 2025 numbers.

Brandon Hyde: "So grateful for being here right now. But I just had 6-plus great years there with great relationships with a lot of people. It's just a strange feeling, kind of the way it happened in May and then not seeing people for a while. But it's great to see these guys."

Vance Honeycutt is not among the Orioles' extra Minor League players who made today's trip to Port Charlotte. So far, he has only played in games in Sarasota.

A chance to go 5-for-5 with 5 HRs will have to wait for Home Run Honeycutt.

He's playing for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic, so he left camp to join them.

Orioles RHP Andrew Kittredge said right shoulder was “barking” after first outing, called it “cranky.” But doesn’t think it’s serious or long-term concern.

Kittredge is aiming to start throwing again soon and to pitch in games before end of spring. Doesn’t foresee long IL stint.

Former Orioles LHP Alex Wells is starting the opening game of the 2026 World Baseball Classic for Australia shortly.

Wells, 29, had a 6.60 ERA over 13 relief appearances for the O’s from 2021-22.

Manager Craig Albernaz said players in the Orioles' dugout were hoping to see the bottom of the 9th inning go long enough to get Vance Honeycutt another AB.
