Vance Honeycutt's home run streak is over at 4.
However, the prospect improves to 5-for-5 in 5 Grapefruit League games for the Orioles this spring with a single.
Not too bad!

Vance Honeycutt actually isn't due up this inning. Orioles' batting order has changed around with all of the defensive replacements. So the streak will have to wait a bit longer today.

Not Albert SuΓ‘rez's best day here today.
His final line: 2.2 IP, 9 H, 7 ER, 1 BB, 2 K's, 2 HRs. 51 pitches, 35 strikes.
The Orioles RHP was facing a Cardinals lineup with not a ton of regulars in it.
Vance Honeycutt has entered the game in right field in the top of the 7th inning. He's due up 2nd in the bottom of the 7th.
Quite possible he could get 2 ABs today, as the Orioles are currently trailing the Cardinals 4-1.
Ryan Mountcastle is 3-for-3 with 3 singles today.
The 29-year-old is now 7-for-18 (.389) with a .921 OPS in 7 Grapefruit League games this spring.
Chris Bassitt on Orioles' pitching staff:
"I think we're very underrated. ... I'm not going to get too excited about it, just because I don't want to make no headlines. I would rather be a stealth bomber, so to speak, and not have anybody talk about us and just surprise people."
Final line for Chris Bassitt in his 2nd start of spring for Orioles:
3+ IP, 1 H, 1 R (0 ER), 1 BB, 2 K's. 43 pitches, 26 strikes.
Bassitt retired first 9 Cardinals batters. The unearned run scored following his departure.
With Cardinals runners on 1st and 2nd, Orioles third baseman Coby Mayo makes a clean play on the ball and tags the bag at 3rd for the force.
However, his throw to 1st results in his 3rd error in 7 games at 3rd base this spring.
Minor League camp just officially opened yesterday, so no games over on that side yet.

An exciting group of prospects over from Minor League camp for today's game:
OF Nate George (Orioles' No. 3 prospect MLB Pipeline), OF Ike Irish (No. 6), INF Wehiwa Aloy (No. 7), RHP Tyson Neighbors (No. 17), OF Jordan Sanchez (No. 18), INF Griff O'Ferrall (No. 29).
Orioles fans will want to tune into MASN for todayβs game vs. the Cardinals.
Vance Honeycutt is here again as an extra player from Minor League camp.
In case you somehow havenβt heard, βHome Run Honeycuttβ is 4-for-4 with 4 home runs in 4 Grapefruit League games this spring.
Orioles manager Craig Albernaz continues to keep all his pitching plans close to the vest.
On potential 6-man rotation: βEverything is on the table.β
On piggybacking starters: βEverythingβs on the table.β
On when heβll name Opening Day starter: βI have no clue.β

Genuinely, how I feel right now is how I used to feel when I was throwing a little harder. I'm hoping that continues to keep climbing up."

Final line for Orioles RHP Zach Eflin in his 1st start of the spring vs. Rays: 2+ IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's. 40 pitches, 21 strikes.
An encouraging first showing for the 31-year-old, who is coming off of back surgery.
Also a good sign -- these velo numbers.
A strong start to Orioles RHP Zach Eflin's first game action since undergoing back surgery last August.
A 1-2-3 first inning vs. the Rays. Struck out Theo Gillen swinging and induced a pair of groundouts. 14 pitches, 8 strikes.
Velo is up on everything from his 2025 numbers.
Brandon Hyde: "So grateful for being here right now. But I just had 6-plus great years there with great relationships with a lot of people. It's just a strange feeling, kind of the way it happened in May and then not seeing people for a while. But it's great to see these guys."

Brandon Hyde just met with Orioles and Rays reporters ahead of todayβs game in Port Charlotte. Talked about his new role, the βweird feelingβ of seeing Oβs.
On the Oriolesβ slow start to β25: βIt was just a struggle. I wish I could have done more, and would have done more.β
Vance Honeycutt is not among the Orioles' extra Minor League players who made today's trip to Port Charlotte. So far, he has only played in games in Sarasota.
A chance to go 5-for-5 with 5 HRs will have to wait for Home Run Honeycutt.
He's playing for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic, so he left camp to join them.

Orioles RHP Andrew Kittredge said right shoulder was βbarkingβ after first outing, called it βcranky.β But doesnβt think itβs serious or long-term concern.
Kittredge is aiming to start throwing again soon and to pitch in games before end of spring. Doesnβt foresee long IL stint.
Former Orioles LHP Alex Wells is starting the opening game of the 2026 World Baseball Classic for Australia shortly.
Wells, 29, had a 6.60 ERA over 13 relief appearances for the Oβs from 2021-22.

Manager Craig Albernaz said players in the Orioles' dugout were hoping to see the bottom of the 9th inning go long enough to get Vance Honeycutt another AB.
"Everyone was joking around the dugout that 9th inning, 'Let's get Honey up.'"
