Page 23 : A digital comic page featuring colorful, anthropomorphic animals. An environmental shot of the past. A dirty urban environment is shown, with rain splattering across cold concrete. A thick, gloomy, gray atmosphere is present, clashing against the comic’s typical colorful nature. A second shot is shown, this time looking up at the roofs of tall brick buildings. Birds scatter about past telephone lines while shouting is heard in the distance, although no words are present. A bright panel flashes forth, with the silhouettes of who characters clashing. One silhouette is of a larger frame, pushing the shorter one off of the steps of a doorway. The frame pulls out, to reveal a younger, shyer Kip lying on the ground, sopping wet after having been pushed out from the door. They lie in front of a dumpster, looking hurt and fragile as a vivid white light spills over them from behind the camera.

Page 24 : A digital comic page featuring colorful, anthropomorphic animals. The door slams shut, leaving Kip alone in the pouring rain. Four panels are displayed back to back, showing the progression of Kip’s expressions. They initially stare in shock and disbelief, heavy bags under their eyes. They hold their mouth trying to keep themself together, before collapsing into a quiet sob and folding in on themself. Moments after though, the rain begins to let up on top of them and a gentle reflected yellow light illuminates their left side. They lift their head is surprise. When they turn to their left, they’re met with a young Mason in a bright yellow rain poncho, holding an umbrella over their head. A spotlight seems to shine on them as Mason speaks, “It’s cold out.” Narration continues the scene, “It’s that same look… from when I first met them.”

Page 25 : A digital comic page featuring colorful, anthropomorphic animals. Kip looks up at Mason, their face lighting up both literally and metaphorically. They stand in stunned silence. Mason stares back down, with a flat, cold expression. Despite this, they continue their kind gesture and motion for Kip to take the umbrella. The scene pulls out to show the two characters alone in the pouring rain, sharing in this moment of humanity together as Kip gingerly takes the umbrella. Mason’s boots splash in the water as they begin to walk away wordlessly. Kip scrambles to their feet shouting after her. “Ah! Um- wait, please! Let me thank you!”

Page 26 : A digital comic page featuring colorful, anthropomorphic animals. Kip scurries after Mason, although Mason continues to look forward, not responding to Kip. They stutter, “It was really kind of you to do that! You really didn’t need to…!” The narration retorts over the next series of panels, “I had no interest in talking. I really thought I had everything figured out. My whole life laid out ahead of me. I got a good job offer straight out of university. Moved out of town for work. Paid for a studio apartment.” A graduation cap and book accompany the narration. Meanwhile, Kip continues to try to speak at Mason, with their speech bubbles being blocked by the characters and narration. They mention moving and having a place to stay in the midst of their frantic appreciation for Mason’s act of kindness. The narration concludes, “I had no friends or family around, and I didn’t need them. I was content living as I was. Day in, day out.” Kip finally calls out, “Um, my name’s Kip, by the way! And you… um…” They begin to trail off as Mason continues to walk off without them. Kip stops in their tracks. “Right, sorry,” before turning around to start walking the other way. “Well, thank you again. I’ll be on my way–” Their text abruptly ends.

I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable, I just thought- I didn't mean it like- Mason, I thought you were trying to say something!" Panel 2 : A close-up of Mason looking anxious and sweating. Mason (thinking) : "What do i do?" Panel 3 : Kip and Mason are lit brightly. Kip : "I-I'm so sorry, I'm such and idiot!! I knew you weren't flirting with me, I'm so stupid!" Mason (thinking) : "I didn't prepare for this. Why did you have to say this now?" Kip : "I'm sorry, please, don't hate me!" Panel 4 : Kip becomes withdrawn and starts to spiral. Kip : "I don't know why I grabbed your hand! I'm sorry, I-" Mason (thinking) : "Stop apologizing." Kip : "I- I can't-" Mason (thinking) : "I'm not ready. I- I'm not...!" Panel 5 : Mason suddenly grabs Kip's arms. Mason : No, no. You were right. It was flirting. Panel 6 : Kip looks up to Mason, dumbfounded. Kip : "I... wha?"

Mason : "And i wanted to make you happy so i started to entertain your feelings, and one thing led to another" Panel 3 : Mason still holding Kip's arms in front of the bus stop. Mason : "I didn't mean for it to go this far, it was just making you so excited and..." Mason (thinking) : "This isn't how I planned." Mason : "You didn't want me to stop, so-" Mason (thinking) : "Stop. Stop talking!" Panel 4 : The frame turns mostly black. Kip pulls away from Mason. Panel 5 : Mason panicking more and more. Mason : "I was going to tell you... I..." Panel 6 : Kip looks shocked and incredulous. Kip : "... Mason, what?" Panel 7 : Kip : "You've known how I felt this whole time and you waited until now to say anything? You- you can't just play with my feelings like that ! How is any of this okay?"
