Roads aren't peed, spitted and pooed on. People walk on one clean floor to the other.

I still wouldn't do it, but I'd say that's because of conditioning.

I've seen people in India who don't walk much on the streets, walk in their homes with 'outside' shoes on and am stunned every time.
