Listen, listen! Kalmah would be the closest thing I’ll get to a Blind Guardian/Children of Bodom tour/show. So….I wish for this to happen (I’m insane for thinking it would’ve happened in another universe).

However, realistically speaking I would hope they add Seven Sisters next time. 😩

however, these past few months have been a lot of fun. also very healing as i’m slowly reintroducing myself to the gems that i remember vividly from my childhood but couldn’t identify the artist/genre until now.

the struggle of being a music enjoyer is trying to identify certain music that you grew up with but never got the chance to identify songs/artists/genres because you were too young to understand + collect music then.

i mostly used radios in the early 2000s that i had to hope i can remember names 😭

LITERALLY THIS!!! i know too many thrash bands that love to compare themselves with nostalgic bands and it’s like ok? what makes you different though? there has to be something revolutionary in some way in order for a band to be interesting. some form of creativity.

for me, what happened was that i’ve always loved power metal when i was a teen and was huge with black metal and other extreme metal genres after high school BUT i didn’t enjoy blind guardian until my 20s lol and now they’re part of my top 10 favorites 😭 it’s interesting though lol.

yeah, i’m still unfamiliar with prog as a genre (i have listened to some recs but not a lot) but i do like some of its elements in other subgenres from what i’ve noticed some bands use sometimes.

and then i love melodeath and symphonic death metal BUT cannot sit through a regular death metal song unless it has elements of another subgenre!!! i love when music is experimental with certain traits that matches with another subgenres.

but overall the list is very vague bc for black metal and symphonic metal i love them when their elements are included with other subgenres. the same goes for thrash, bc i cannot stand american thrash UNLESS it has other elements from other subgenres - cross/over, speed, blackened thrash, etc.
