Had an awesome time this week at @netbiomed2025.bsky.social and @netsciconf.bsky.social.
Very interesting talks and posters and nice people, I couldnβt be more excited to get back to working on this topic to study biological processes.

Earlier this week, @lmrocha.bsky.social , Chair of CBeRa, was an invited speaker at the @netbiomed2025.bsky.social Satellite of @netsciconf.bsky.social in Maastricht.
He spoke about making digital twins more interpretable, a key move for biomedical AI! Great chance to show CBeRa to the community
Congratulations to all the organizing members of #NetBioMed2025 on a successful event! It was a great pleasure to illustrate the logo for the satellite meeting. Translating my colleagues' ideas into visuals is always a rewarding experience β thank you for the trust!

Keep enjoying #NetSci2025 and see you next year at the @netsciconf.bsky.social!π§¬π¬π©Ί
After coffee break we had Rebekka Burkholz discussing current challenges when modelling gene regulation and how to fix them. Her approach is innovative and allows us to infer biological processes with both scalability and interpretability.
#NetBioMed2025 #NetSci2025
Now before our second coffee break we had Nolan Newman, who introduced us to another incredible piece of software called #SiSaNA, a command line to be used in a single sample network analysis. You're still on time to join us!
#NetBioMed2025 #NetSci2025
We just had an amazing talk by Manuel Ruiz-Botella, who introduced us to #CoCoGraph, a graph diffusion model for the generation of realistic synthetic molecules. Only here, at #NetBioMed2025, a satellite being held at #NetSci2025! @verapancaldi.bsky.social @netsciconf.bsky.social
02.06.2025 13:27 β π 2 π 5 π¬ 0 π 0Now at #NetBioMed2025 Marco Manca discusses some well spread scientific assumptions which many people ignore and potentially have been stopping scientific progress. After that, he discusses how to use agent based models to solve biomedical problems.
#NetSci2025
Kicking off our afternoon session, @cantinilab.bsky.social discusses her dual approach to capture both multi-modal dimensionality reduction and molecular network inference. She gave a very nice overview of her work!
#NetBioMed2025 #NetSci2025 @verapancaldi.bsky.social
Before lunch break Elma Dervic gave us a very quick talk on how to build comorbidity networks from data. I loved her visualization through time. More amazing talks at #NetBioMed2025 after lunch, so stay tuned! #NetSci2025 @verapancaldi.bsky.social
02.06.2025 10:33 β π 4 π 6 π¬ 0 π 0Iker NuΓ±ez-Carpintero shows us his integrative #multilayer approach to explore rare neuromuscular disorders. Particularly he's focusing on cardiac and skeletal muscle myopathies. Join us at #NetBioMed2025, a @netsciconf.bsky.social satellite at #NetSci2025!
02.06.2025 10:20 β π 5 π 6 π¬ 0 π 0Now @lmrocha.bsky.social goes deeper into the #digitaltwins paradigm, discussing how to build multiscale models for this purpose. What's the temporal limit when building these complex models? Can we build something as complex as biological architectures?
#NetBioMed2025 #NetSci2025
After coffee break Anna Niarakis discusses her approach to #digitaltwins, a novel conception to treat complex human pathologies. If we haven't been able to build artificial agents capable of openended evolution, can we truly build biological digital twins? #NetSci2025 #NetBioMed2025
02.06.2025 09:28 β π 9 π 6 π¬ 0 π 1Before our first coffee break of the day, Filipi Silva introduced us to the Human Reference Atlas, a whole map of the human body across scales, from micro to macro. I found this particularly interesting! See you again at 11am.
#NetBioMed2025 #NetSci2025
At #NetBioMed2025 Martina Summer-Kutmon just introduced us to her methodology to use a #COVID dataset in order to build knowledge graphs and explain multiple post-pandemic effects on people. Very nice!
#NetSci2025 @verapancaldi.bsky.social
We just had Martin Guillemaud, who is using network #clustering applied to #cytokine profiles in order to better understand epileptic seizures in multiple patients. An amazing talk at #NetBioMed2025!
#NetSci2025 @verapancaldi.bsky.social
Our second talk of the day corresponds to Natasa Przulj, who gave us a detailed explanation on how to use #AI techniques in order to build #complexnetworks based on multi-omics!
#NetBioMed2025 #NetSci2025 @verapancaldi.bsky.social
Kristel Van Steen kicks off our #NetBioMed2025 Satellite discussing how to use #networkscience to develop individual medical networks, going towards personalized medicine!
@netsciconf.bsky.social @verapancaldi.bsky.social
The joint prob that you are in Maastricht and you still don't which satellite to attend is nearly zero.
But still, you can show up to our MIX-NEXT if you are curious about where the field is going and what we can do to make it happen.
Scales, structure, dynamics, information

Amazing talk this morning by @lmrocha.bsky.social, the @cberaproject.bsky.social chair holder at CatΓ³lica Biomedical Research Centre, on the steps towards explainable Digital Twins from Network Science.
02.06.2025 15:53 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Our last talk of the day goes to Fabrizio de Vico Fallani, who discussed very nicely how to apply node-layer duality to better understand Alzheimer's disease. Incredible way to close our #NetBioMed2025 at #NetSci2025!
