Our understanding of knitting today was shaped by the work and research of adventurous and determined mid-century knitters, Walker among them, who excavated knitting from the history books, tested its boundaries, and invented new and durable approaches to the craft.
Barbara G. Walker was a fantastically creative and prolific scholar, author, teacher, and designer, who made significant contributions to the history and practice of contemporary knitting. We want to acknowledge and mourn her passing this December at the age of 95.
