Why Computer Science is the Foundation of AI Literacy
Supporting students and teachers in computer science builds early technology skills in K–12 schools.
"If we reduce AI literacy to only teaching students how to prompt a chatbot, we’ll repeat a mistake from 20 years ago, when many schools rebranded computer science as learning to use word processors."

In order to stay true to our conference mantra of “By Teachers, For Teachers,” our conference committee decided to update the guidelines. If orgs don’t want to pay-to-play, they can still partner with a teacher or chapter to submit and present! They just can’t sell in that session.

Promising Practices for Teaching K-12 AI.
Begin in early elementary school—Build a foundation using hands-on, engaging experiences.
Use supportive tools—Tools help make complex topics accessible to students, and provide interactive learning experiences that do not require programming to implement.
Prepare students to be critical consumers, responsible creators, and informed citizens—AI education is for everyone, not just those who will work as AI specialists.
How do we ensure all K-12 students have a foundational grasp on artificial intelligence? Learn more about #AILearningPriorities: csteachers.org/ai-priorities/ #AI4K12
