Itβs disappointing to see our government ignore the advice of road safety experts in New Zealand and around the world by repealing this legislation. Slower streets enhance safety, build community, and improve neighborhoods! (1/3)

This Government is presenting New Zealand as a country that does not give a damn.
Your thread is a great one Sarah - BlueSky needs a way of pinning a thread or saving to favourites.
BTW, I do have some OIAs in mind as wellβ¦. I need organisations to provide facts, because there is far too much misinformation being published from RW politicians.
Yeah itβs amusing, but also a reminder that when someone makes a case based on summarised data, we need to know how it was constructed before we can agree or disagree with the case being made.
I think 2024 best be the year of scrutinising decision makers, otherwise we will be misled.

This is a rough callβ¦ part way through day one in 2024 and the health app tells me this yearβs average activity energy is below that of 2023.
I donβt think Iβll get too concerned - thereβs plenty more bike rides and walks to be had this year π²πΆπ½π
Thank you, will do. What is also important to me is gaining more understanding of MΔori identity and culture, MΔoritanga and link to land and sea.
Recently I visited the NgΔmotu New Plymouth Museum, I spent hours viewing and reading about the MΔori related displays - we must not continue the loss.

31.12.2023 21:28 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0When hate becomes more mainstream (e.g. on media pages or elected memberβs pages), then there is a larger audience influenced.
But also, alt-right groups will never fall into the shadows, they will escalate their position.
Unless there is a reversal of this, society will head into a bad place.
Thanks Byron. I read your book earlier this year, I really got it.
Over the years Iβve been an observer of online behaviour and how it how it affects direction in society. I have concerns - the hate is becoming more extreme, more frequent, more controlling and becoming more mainstream.
NEW: New Zealandβs new Transport Minister has halted dozens of important local council projects designed to encourage biking, walking and public transport ridership across the country, to reduce car dependency.
Likely just the start of the damage that the new right-wing govt will do to Kiwi cities.
We need to make a strong stand for all those that donβt have a voice.
18.12.2023 04:12 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This Governmentβs behaviour is incredibly sad (and that doesnβt begin to describe it).
Their actions will result in deaths and life changing injuries on the roads, as well as environmental damage leading to health and wellbeing issues for everyone.
Active transport (travelling via wheelchair, walking, cycling and similar) is very good for peopleβs health.
Decisions being made by this National Government will create a load on our health system that will be expensive and unmanageable.

Agree, never click on links in emails. Instead, go to the company via their website (by typing in the address bar) or their app.
Tip: If an email implies urgency or makes you feel concerned, it will be a scam. Itβs an attempt for the recipient to make a rushed decision.

Shocking. I canβt stress enough how unusual it is for Cabinet to leak like this, or how seriously we should take this assault on our democratic process.

National have talked a lot about getting tough on crime. Misleading the public on this scale is a crime, misrepresenting data that affects peopleβs health is a serious matter.
Media needs to ask Luxon how heβs going to get tough on disinformation.

β¦and that misleading the public started well before they they were elected. The media needs to get to work and call out all the deception. In doing this the public will regain confidence in the media.
