i totally understand the sentiment that the elderly should "stay in shape" physically and mentally, but it should not be something young adults have to worry about. but that seems to be the reality in this day and age

it's really frustrating feeling the effects of getting older. things that came so naturally to me when i was younger becoming such difficult tasks to manage now. reaction times being slower, brain fog and difficulty understanding things, remembering things, problem solving...

i'm only 2 hours in and i feel all the art, vibe, music, aesthetic stuff is maybe my favorite since prime 1 but the gameplay just feels like it's there. the psychic stuff is neat but imo not utilized enough yet, and it's usually after like 4 hours that these games really start opening up. we'll see

i'm realizing i think i prefer 2d metroid. finally actually taking the time to read everything i scan in prime 4 and it feels like they spoil a lot of the cool upgrades or things you'll unlock, and part of the appeal of metroidvanias is the discovery aspect

still a breathtaking game so far tho

gonna take a step back from streaming for the next few weeks, at least in the form of putting the deltarune playthrough on hold. as much as i wanted to play it now, i realized i wouldn't be able to properly appreciate it so we'll wait for a better time

hoping i end up liking deltarune... i've noticed i've been very cynical and nitpicky about things lately and wonder if i'm just not in the right headspace to consume new media, but we gotta stick to streaming plans

this is all coming from an oberon apologist who liked him even until like 2021 tho, so i'm probably just too biased and resistant to change

even the synergies with his old abilities, though clunky, were neat. the smite sparks, if inconsistent, were really strong in niche scenarios

some of his jank made him unique. imo he could've been stronger while keeping him a bit less generic

i was kinda hoping for more from the oberon rework... pretty much all his numbers are better but now he relies on enemy density (bad for bosses), he has pseudo mesmer skin (bland), and he doesn't really offer anything new and interesting. he'll play fine but there isn't much Spirit there, y'know?

ananta gives off no man's sky vibes but in all the worst ways. "a bit of everything" without any of the substance, and being a f2p live service likely with tons of microtransactions, it'll either flop or live on through exploiting players

it looks Good, but not everything can be a genshin

i'm not really one for competition and prefer doing things more lighthearted so the idea of actually competing or being serious about speedrunning never appealed to me, but years ago when i had more free time i would casually speedrun random games just to see how fast i could be

still proud of my 8m55s plague star run on stream earlier. seeing my progress over the past two weeks from being impressed at 12m runs to now pretty consistently getting sub 10 feels really nice

another thing i wish was on the direct this week

xenoblade switch 2 versions

i COULD go finish xc2 right now and get xc3 but a switch 2 version seems inevitable in some form, and if that form is a trilogy collector's edition that makes me start my save over then i don't want to lose more progress

it'd be one thing if first party nintendo controllers had pc support day 1 but i'm having impulses to try modern dualshocks as a pc controller even though switch 2 pro support is likely coming soon enough

but new input devices just feel so good and the idea of trying something new is so tempting...

maybe this is ignorance but there should be actual places that let you test keyboards, mice, controllers, etc before buying because even hours spent poring over reviews and videos just isn't substitute for actual hands on testing

would've been cool to see a new 3d mario, new animal crossing, or new smash but honestly a pretty good direct overall. they kinda stalled on some of the mario sections which gave me a bad feeling but they more than made up for it by the end. neat stuff
