"i am the medium that records you now / i am the only instrument that remembers with fidelity your sound" this book is a melding of verse, poetry, literature, memory, modernity, history, and religion in a way that absolutely works. i didn't have very high expectations going into this because i'm generally very critical of works rooted in religion/theology, but this blew me out of the water. the usage of structure, color, negative space, the inclusion/lack of punctuation and capitalization, etc. was so striking and lended itself to the disjointed feeling of grief, loss, loneliness, and love that exists throughout the book. it just absolutely oozes emotion and oliveira's writing style is so visceral and raw and human in the best possible way.

I have so much to say about this book …idk purely poetic and describing love in a universal, cosmic, clusterfuck in a million ways bending the beauty and poetry of the Christian tradition to something that felt healing. This was just beautiful to experience
