Is there a song that has a deep emotional resonance, but you realize you haven't thought about it for a while and then remembering it is almost as good as hearing it the first time?

I experienced that thanks to Atticus - not for his song, but "With or Without You" by U2, the greatest 80s ballad.

North Korea levels of delusion and propaganda

It's totally a coincidence that Houston's new district map looks like the original gerrymander. Those are perfectly normal lines, definitely reflecting the natural neighborhood and community boundaries.

Seems totally fair and unbiased. I'm sure this happens all the time.
Also, it's 100% coincidental that the GOP would gain five House seats in this redistricting plan.

There are two kinds of people in this world. One, when they hear "burn it down", see their neighbor's house burning. The other sees their own house burning.

Propaganda and vibes are not good foundations for a healthy economy or society.

One of the most successful deceptions of our time was getting so many Americans to fear diversity more than racism, equality more than misogyny, democracy more than fascism, immigrants more than authoritarians, the poor more than corrupt billionaires, and empathy more than cruelty.

It's even crazier than that. You can stand with your back at the corner of any building and claim you're poiting in a certain direction. A building corner is a point, so you can claim it's 'aligned' to almost anywhere. If it's a rectangle, you've got 270º to work with.

OMG - the corner of St Paul's chapel is also pointed at Mecca!
