We ran a randomized controlled trial to see how much AI coding tools speed up experienced open-source developers.

The results surprised us: Developers thought they were 20% faster with AI tools, but they were actually 19% slower when they had access to AI than when they didn't.

Today I made a pilgrimage to the old Michaelsoft Binbows building.

Sometimes it's good to at least have the ability to do both. When I did this for my adventure RPG game, it had lots of story cutscenes and yielding kept the scripts fairly simple. But of course for dynamic gameplay and NPC behaviors I still used the latter state machine style.
