For me, "being a monster in the human world" is one of the most interesting themes in urban fantasy. After all, depending on species, each supernatural being experiences this phenomenon differently: they hide different traits, struggle with different psychological backgrounds and coping strategies.

Jev breaks down completely, losing control over their body, which begins to shift and change uncontrollably. Devin is the only one who knows who Jev really is and what they’re struggling with. He’s incapable of returning Jev’s feelings, he still tries to stay by their side and support them.
