(Though I think this rule is more about prev experience than it is about pay grade, and is not always enforced in practice.)

Here, there needs to be someone on the supervisory team who has prev supervised a student to completion. Someone G7 could be lead if they have a more senior colleague as 2nd supervisor. I’m G7 & have had students apply to work with me but they haven’t been able to come bc of the funding crisis.
