Our Executive Director @librarylandia.bsky.social spoke with CBC about the Alberta government's censorship of comic books in schools.
Their attack on diverse voices is a continuation of how governments have historically exploited "moral panics" to threaten human rights. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Why are they still banning books in 2025? Graphic novels are seen as a threat because they are so effective. LGBTQ+ is seen as a threat because it undermines the Patriarchy. The Patriarchy has been oppressing women and minorities for centuries, and it needs to be gotten rid of.

I went to Canada 🇨🇦 🍁 for the first time ever last weekend to help friends move to Toronto. While I was there @torontocomics.bsky.social happened to be going on and I finally got to attend after hearing about it for so many years! It was an inspiring time 😊
