I know the idea that readers don't care about the world and expo isn't true, bc I am a reader, and the world building/setting is my favorite part of any story I read.
Personalities and plot tropes get repeated endlessly. It's the setting, the circumstance, the world that makes the story special.

The most average, mundane person can have an epic adventure given the right circumstance. THAT'S why we love fantasy- it's the *world* that we escape into. Without that foundation, even the most charismatic character would be worthless.
