Hey, I loved Pokopia and it surprisingly dug into some of my deepest existential fears about keeping the memory of people we've lost alive. It's one of the best games in Pokémon's 30 years.
i gotta wrap my playthrough before the SC remake
also if you haven't dabbled in Omega Force's musou side, last year's Dynasty Warriors Origins is incredible *and* also a leaping-in point for their Warriors games in general, taking a story-driven approach with choices and grand battles and a central protagonist. they've been on a serious roll.
the Dragon Quest Builders team has been doing absolutely amazing stuff - i said back then that they had basically solved how to tell a story with Minecraft-style mechanics, and they've only built up from there.
Pokopia's magnificent. so glad Omega Force is getting its flowers for this one.
me coming to swipe right on the daddies for a fourth year in a row.
This is always a fantastic panel, definitely add it to your calendar
Both of the options here are human writers. The first option is unprocessed human writing and the second option is human writing run through a language model to reproduce the same outputs with different words
If it couldn't have existed without training data, it isn't creating anything at all.
i do think there's a degree of finality to what he's been doing with the end of Part 2, but i could see a potential Part 3.
It is lively, to say the least. Audience participation is very much encouraged. I usually tell people this is essentially an improv comedy panel.
VGT is consistently one of the best parts of my PAX every year, and hope it will be one of yours, too!
If you've never been to one of our panels before (this is somehow @shepardcdr.bsky.social and I's *4th* year running it!), I create a number of fake dating app profiles for video game characters.
The panel, who has not seen them before, will discuss, joke, and vote to swipe left or right, live.
Oh my god, we're back again. VG Tinder RETURNS for PAX East 2026!
We're concocting dating profiles for our esteemed panel to swipe on, and we've got another great lineup this year:
- @bogboogie.bsky.social
- @janochoa.bsky.social

I'm not trying to downplay a banger here because Diablo II would also be a high seed for me in this bracket, but SF2 has impact outside its own genre. Its combo systems and other mechanical choices ripple out like crazy. And its culture pierces through gaming to other mediums, too.
Street Fighter 2 is one of the most influential games ever. It's a major cultural pillar for both fighting games and gaming at large, and that is largely *because* of SF2. I don't think many other games on this bracket can really match its impact on the medium.
(though i suppose Super Metroid might not make the cut if "2"/second game is the specification here, because then Metroid II, etc.)
no Baldur's Gate 2 or Super Metroid is wild.
also, Street Fighter 2 *should* just take the whole bracket.
just me! i'm hosting a panel (on the site calendar but we haven't promoted yet because i still need to make the graphic)
the next chapter arrives the day before PAX East, which is terrible news for any of my friends hoping i would be normal during PAX East

i've been playing infrequently but wouldn't mind a spot for some pickup runs
WHAT THE FUCK MAN
the way i sprinted to go read the new chapter after i saw this
this barely squeaks in, but i've always had a soft spot for Lost Dimension, a tactics RPG where you also try to suss out the traitors in your midst, Danganronpa style. it had some really cool ideas and pulled off one big narrative moment that left me stunned.

My second Women in Horror Month interview is with the wonderful Nessa Cannon (@nessathewriter.bsky.social), in which we discuss crafting weird narratives and getting your work out there andrea-blythe.beehiiv.com/p/women-in-h...
have no idea why people are posting about Criticism this morning but exciting to notice i've been Around long enough to see just about every discourse do a full cycle back around.
i was playing this the other night and some friends asked why i was always crouch walking and moving slow. i'm so accustomed to a slower, gradual pace with looming danger but Marathon certainly feels like it gives you a lot, which encourages more action than caution.
i played Big Walk and had a real great time with it. the gestures, the little interactive tools and toys, and an island full of puzzles make for a great sandbox to just walk around and vibe in. check out my thoughts here!
sitting at a coffee shop trying to write and all i can think about is Pokopia
