I think part of the problem is the widespread idea that indie games are better than AAA games. That makes a lot of people, especially younger people, raise their expectations of indie games to truly be "better" in every single way than games with 200 times their manpower and 10000 times their budget

Sadly, I think with the RAM (and soon GPU, SSD) prices the way they are, we'll see indie vtubers graduating more often when systems die. Too expensive to replace for 99% of us.

It's just a difference in how their authenticate. SH f doesn't use the disc to check while MGSD apparently does. Discs on modern consoles are just DRM checks after you install the games.
