Sustainable wildfowling has taken place there for centuries. This raffle has happened every season for many years and is part of the BASC ran permit scheme. Also Brent aren’t a quarry species so ‘’these very birds’’ aren’t being shot at all.

I think its pretty crap to be honest don’t really like how it works and there’s not much on here compared to X. As far as politics is concerned this has quickly become the left wing echo chamber Twitter used to be which I’ve personally no more interest in than some of the right wing crap on X.

Or maybe shooting and conservation often go hand in hand and the reason the moorland association are making such a big thing about Curlew is Grouse shooting is under attack from the very people who claim to care about Curlew yet the facts show Grouse shooting does far more for Curlew than the RSPB.

Took these at the Customs house this afternoon looking across to Royal Quays. I see both Iceland and Glaucous reported from there. Not sure if all of these are of the same bird or not or whether they are Iceland or Glaucous? Any thoughts anyone?

I’ve seen Ravens in at least 4 different places in the North East this year alone without trying. Not being able to get a bus and be certain of seeing them hardly makes something mega rare.

Spotted Flycatcher, Goldcrest and Chiff Chaff the best I could find in Roker park this afternoon.

I’m no expert but many Coots we see in UK each winter migrate from other countries.

Not from distance or when legs are under water. I know they don’t look great but as mentioned already anyone who has handled birds knows how much of a neck is just soft feather which makes these collard look much worse than they are.

But isn’t the point that you only know it doesn’t go anywhere because you recognise it every time you visit because of the collar?
